Mrs. Gertrude M. Edwards, 90, formerly of Mount Jackson, VA, a resident of Methodist Nursing Home since September 1973, died at City Hospital Monday, February 11, 1974, after a brief illness.
Born at Butler, November 5, 1883, she was a daughter of John E. and Carrie Jamison Miller. She was the widow of the Rev. Jeremiah Edwards, a former high school principal and Methodist minister in the Butler-Grove City area. He died in 1941. She was a member of Kernstown United Methodist Church of Winchester, VA and attended Slippery Rock State College and was a teacher in the Grove City school system.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. W. E. (Ruth) Covert of Mount Jackson; two sons, John Edwards of Kingston and Arthur Edwards of Irving, TX; a brother, James E. Miller of Eau Claire; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A son, Robert, preceded her in death.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Parkland Cemetery, Jamestown.
