Gilbert T. Jones

Gilbert T. Jones, 66 of Clarks Mills, passed away on the morning of June 7, 2018 at the Grove at Greenville surrounded by his family. Gilbert was born on November 16, 1951 in Pittsburgh to the late Thomas and Patricia Powell Jones. He graduated from South Hills High School and then went on to work for Carpenters Union #2274 in Pittsburgh. Gilbert was a woodsman and did all he could outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish, and trap. He was also an animal lover and always had numerous animals he would take care of around his house. Gilbert was also a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church in Greenville. Gilbert married his beloved wife Mary Rose Garofalo Jones, on November 22, 1973, she survives at home. In addition to his wife, Gilbert is survived by his son, Joshua Jones and wife Dianna of Clarks Mills, three grandchildren, Hannah, Grace, and Joshua Jones of Clarks Mills, brother Martin Jones and wife Darlene of Sandy Lake, sisters Cynthia DeSanzo and husband Dan of Florida, Lois Lippert and husband Gary of Pittsburgh, and Patricia Banks and husband David of Texas, sister-in-law Kathryn Moretti and husband Victor of Delmont, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by his daughter Gillian Jones. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Black Funeral Homes, Stoneboro & Sandy Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Michael Catholic Church, 85 North High Street, Greenville, on Saturday, June 9 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Robert Manning, pastor at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Stoneboro, Officiating. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gilbert’s name to the Oncology Patient Care Fund, c/o Cancer Registry, UPMC Horizon, 110 N.
