Gladys A. Hoard

December 16, 1885 — July 7, 1978

Mrs. Gladys A. Hoard, 92, of Meadville, died Friday, July 7, 1978, at the Peaceful Rest Home, Cochranton, where she had been a patient for six and one-half years.

She was born in Crossingville on December 16, 1885, a daughter of William I. and Virginia Boggs Hecker.  She was the widow of Harry L. Hoard who died in 1946.  Mrs. Hoard was employed as a telegraph operator for the former Erie Railroad at the Red House, NY, station.  She was a member of Christ Church Episcopal, a life member of Golden Crown Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; Trinity White Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem; and the Order of the Amaranth.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Mary Beers of Orlando, FL, and Miss Slyvania Hecker and Miss Julia Hecker, both of Meadville; a brother, Raymond S. Hecker of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Saegertown Cemetery.
