Gladys Burgwin Tracy

Mrs. Gladys Burgwin Tracy, 77, wife of John W. Tracy of Meadville, died Wednesday, October 21, 1981, at City Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born at Parkers Landing, Armstrong County, May 23, 1904, a daughter of Dr. Charles W. and Effie Pryor Burgwin.  She married Tracy June 2, 1927.

Tracy is the former president of Merchants Bank and Trust Co. and former chairman of Meadville division of Pennbank.

Mrs. Tracy was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and the church's Marriott Sunday School Class.  A former Sunday school teacher, Mrs. Tracy also served as superintendent of the junior-senior high department.

A graduate of Guys Mills Public Schools and Edinboro State College, she taught school for two years at Randolph Elementary School.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Ann) Morton of Medford, NJ and Mrs. Edward (Jeannette) Lees of Boise, ID; a son, John R. of Meadville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Burgwin.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
