Gladys E. Getchell

January 9, 1898 — January 1, 1753

Mrs. Gladys E. Getchell died at her home in Meadville, Wednesday morning, after a long illness.

She is survived by her husband, and four sons, Halver W., stationed in the Philippine Islands with the army air forces weather group, Malcolm D., with the US Maritime Service in the Pacific area; Norman C. and Arthur E., of Meadville; her mother, Mrs. Julia Hersum of Maine; three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Coupe of Portland, ME, Mrs. Glenn Oliver of Skowhegan, ME and Mrs. Ivan Spencer of North Anson, ME; four brothers, Earl Moulton of North Portland, ME, Fayette Moulton of Newport, NH, Floyd and Flobert Moulton of Livermore Falls, ME.

Mrs. Getchell spent her early life at Solon, Maine, graduating from the high school there and from the Gray Business College in Portland, ME.  She held a secretary position for a time with the Wasseekeg Woolen Manufacturing Company in Dexter, ME.

The Getchells came to Meadville in 1935 from Oneonta, NY, when Mr. Warren D. Getchell became associated with the McCorksy Tool Corp.

Mrs. Getchell was a member of Stone Methodist Church, of Dr. Marriott's Bible Class, and of various women's groups in the church.  She had worked in the junior department of the church school before her illness.  She had kept her membership in the Northern Light Lodge, Daughters of Rebekah, at Solon, ME.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
