Gladys J. 'Gay' Hindle, 82, of Meadville, died Wednesday, January 3, 2001, at Meadville Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born in Meadville, December 17, 1918, a daughter of Ernest K. and Anna Haenel Hall. She married Alton Eugene Hindle who preceded her in death in 1985. She was a beautician for over 40 years and was a co-owner and operator of the French Beauty Studio. She had previously worked at Vanity Fair Beauty Salon, and most recently had been a cafeteria monitor at East End School, known affectionately as 'Grandma'. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Sertoma Club Aux., was an avid bingo player, and crocheted many afghans. Survivors include two sons, Gregory E. Hindle (Patricia) of Conneaut Lake and Scott E. Hindle (Susan) of Saegertown; three grandchildren, Jennifer Pavettii, Jacob Hindle and Jason Hindle; a great-grandson; five sisters, Isabelle Clark of Sterling, VA, Thelma Hall, Betty Hipple and Mary Ellen Edmonds, all of Meadville and Marion Badagliacca of Potomac Falls, VA; and one brother, William E. Hall of Meadville. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian Weir and Neva Higby and one brother, Ernest K. Hall, Jr. Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
