Gladys Lorriane Yuhasz

April 10, 1919 — March 2, 2012

Gladys Lorraine Yuhasz, 92, of Meadville, died Friday, March 2, 2012 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

She was born April 10, 1919 in Ochelata, OK, a daughter of Raymond and Tessa Manley Hornstein.  She married George A. Yuhasz September 15, 1937 and he preceded her in death December 2, 2006.

Lorraine was a graduate of Meadville High School.  She was employed at the Keystone Ordinance Works, in marketing and advertising at WMGW radio in Meadville and subsequently at WPIC radio in Sharon where she became the general manager of the Regional Broadcasting Group.  She subsequently was owner and operator of cable television channel 3 in Sharpsville for a few years in the early 1970s.  Following retirement from radio and television communications, she was owner and operator, with her husband, of Yuhasz Nursery.

A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lorraine was a former member and past president of the Mercer County Business and Professional Women’s Assoc., was formerly active in county republican politics, and was the author of “The Dwyer Case.”  She was an antiquarian book seller and collector.

Survivors include a son, George W. Yuhasz and his wife Susan of Hot Springs, AR; a grandson, George W. (Budd) Yuhasz, Jr. and his wife Kirsten Richter Yuhasz of Williamsville, NY; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Evelyn Yuhasz.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral and committal service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Benjamin Travis, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Agatha Cemetery.
