Gladys M. Duval

Gladys M. Duval, 87, of 312 McClellan St., Cambridge Springs, and formerly of 110 N. Main St., Meadville, died at home Friday December 13, 2002.

She was born in Conneautville, December 25, 1914, a daughter of Charles & Morea Smith Flagg.  She married H. Stalter Duval January 14, 1939, and he preceded her in death October 25, 1993.

She was a graduate of Conneautville High School and the former Spencer Hospital School of Nursing.  She had been employed as a registered nurse at the former Mead Nursing Home for 20 years.  She and her husband also owned and operated Duval Novelties.

She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a former member of the Eagles Aerie #429 Auxiliary.  She had been an active volunteer with the Girl Scouts for many years.  She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed ballroom dancing, and was very much a family person who sacrificed for her children and opened her door to everyone.

Survivors include four daughters, T. Stalene Duval of Cussetta, GA, Jacqueline D. Barney and her husband Joseph of Cambridge Springs, D. Morea Brookshire and her husband Jeff of Ft. Worth, TX, and D’Etta J. Maynard and her husband Thomas of Youngsville; a son, David Tod Duval and his wife Sharri, of Mechanicsburg, thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three sisters, Mildred Welker and her husband Bill of Conneautville, Hazel Wright and her husband Gene of Newville, and Patricia Sollinger and her husband Rich of Roanoke, VA; a brother, Donald Flagg and his wife Jane of Winterhaven, Florida and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son Harry Flagg Duval.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.  The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Monday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. William Smith, retired Presbyterian Clergyman, assisted by the Rev. Dixie Welker, pastor of Hickernell United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
