Gladys Powell

June 25, 1901 — October 25, 1996

Gladys Powell, 95, a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since November 1984, and formerly of Grove City, died at Wesbury Friday, October 25, 1996.  She was born at Sarver, Butler Co., June 25, 1901, a daughter of John Wesley and Mary Agnes Weber Powell.

She was a 1929 graduate of Westminster College and had taught High School in Mercer and Brownsville.  She also had worked in the office of Dambach Lumber Co. of Evans City and had been librarian in the Evans City Public Library.  She had also worked as the Grove City Brass and Bronze Co.  She was a member of Tower Presbyterian Church where she had been Sunday School Secretary-Treasurer, member of the Good Cheer Sunday School Class, Tower Woman's Assn. and Tower Best-To-Be-Club.

She is survived by nieces and nephews including Mrs. John U. (Elizabeth) Shaffer of Meadville, Mrs. Richard (Anna Mary) Maddy of Chapel Hill, NC and Mrs. John (Nancy) Oyler of Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Powell Fleck and two brothers, David W. Powell and John B. Powell.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
