Glenn A. Norr

April 30, 1924 — February 1, 2012

Glenn A. Norr, 87, formerly of Hank Street, Meadville and a resident of Rolling Fields Nursing Home since June 2009, died there Wednesday, February 01, 2012.

He was born in Meadville April 30, 1924 a son of James and Rebecca Forman Norr.  He married Madeline Ridenauer June 30, 1945 and she preceded him in death November 7, 2010.

He attended Blooming Valley, Fredericksburg and New Richmond Schools.  He was a veteran of World War II serving briefly in Army Co. B until they found out he was underage.  After he turned 18 he then enlisted in the US Navy and served on PT boats in the South Pacific.  After the war he returned to Meadville and worked at Avtex Inc. initially in Spinning and later in Quality Control for 43 years.

He was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Saegertown American Legion Post #205 and a lifetime member of Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.  He was also an avid hunter.

Survivors, include: a son, Gary Norr and his wife Sharon of Meadville; two grandchildren, Kevin Norr of Nottingham, NH and Laura McWright and her husband David of Saegertown; two great grandchildren, Brennen McWright and Elliot McWright and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Glenn E. Norr; three brothers, Clair, James and Edgar Norr; two sisters, Nona Harry and Gertrude Castile and nieces and nephews.

Calling hour will be Thursday from 9-9:45 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m.at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville with Fr. Marc Soloman as celebrant.

Interment with military honors will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
