Glenn D. Conser

September 8, 1925 — December 12, 1996

Glenn D. Conser, 71, of Meadville, died Thursday, December 12, 1996, at home, following a period of declining health.

He was born in Curwensville, Clearfield Co., on September 8, 1925, a son of Lucian E. and Bessie Decker Conser.  He married Barbara Jean McCracken on August 9, 1949.  She survives.

He graduated from Mahaffey PA High School in 1943.  A veteran of World War II, he served with the US Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters of operation from 1943 to 1946.  For 40 years, he and his wife owned and operated Conser Petroleum, Inc., distributing gasoline and home heating oil.  After selling that business and semi-retiring, he worked part-time at the Port Meadville Airport.  The past two summers, he was employed at Gable Hill Driving Range.

He was a member of Crawford Masonic Lodge #234 and a life member of Vernon Central Hose Co.  He was affiliated with Stone Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael A. Conser of DuBois and Larry G. Conser of Meadville; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Wava Anderson and Lorraine Wank.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
