Glenn R. Chess, 77, of 454 Randolph St., Meadville, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 7, 2007 at his residence.
He was born in Hadley October 26, 1929, a son of the late Ralsey and Clara Bowman Chess. He married Mildred Warner July 15, 1949 and she preceded him in death November 18, 2006.
He was a graduate of Sheakleyville High School and worked as a brick mason for Goodea and Devore Construction Companies, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, Meadville. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, woodworking, dining out, and he especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Rhonda Chess of Hartstown and Joy Dragosavac and her husband Bob of Meadville; 2 sons, Dale Chess of Knoxville, TN and Eugene Chess of Harrisburg; 5 grandchildren, Erika, Leslie, Drew, Cruz, and Shannon; 2 great-grandchildren, Ally and Emma; a sister, Theresa Chase of Meadville; 2 brothers, Jim Bowman and his wife Judy of Meadville and Melvin Chess and his wife Diane of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be Monday at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
Interment will be in Cochranton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
