Gordon M. Kent, Sr., 70, of S. Grant Street Meadville and formerly of Guys Mills, PA died Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Hamot Medical Center, Erie following a short illness.
He was born in Randolph Twp., Crawford Co. December 30, 1937 a son of Walter and A. Flossie Skiff Kent. He married Helen M. Hoover and she preceded him in death July 5, 2000.
He was a graduate of Randolph High School and began his working life in his father’s business drilling water wells. He then managed two Isaly’s stores, in Meadville and Ohio and at one time worked for Saegertown Components. He retired from Kwik Fill Gas Station on North Street.
He enjoyed socializing and visiting with his friends.
Survivors, include: three sons, Gordon M. Kent Jr. and his wife Lisa of Meadville, Robert Kent and his companion Laura Dengler of Saegertown and Allen Kent of Guys Mills; a daughter, Mary Moses of Meadville; a special friend, Leona Mattocks of Meadville; five grandchildren, Jeremi Kent, Brian Kent, Maria Sampson, Nathan Blystone and Zack Blystone; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sisters.
Calling hours will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Lois Ann Green, Cousin, officiating.
Burial will be in Radle Cemetery, Guys Mills.
