Grace E. Mears, 89, a resident of Wesbury Hillside Home since October 1997 and formerly of Guys Mills, died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the Meadville Medical Center.
She was born in Guys Mills August 25, 1914, a daughter of Lavern and Lucy Daniels Braymer. She married Samuel B. Mears December 28, 1932 and he preceded her in death December 21, 1996.
She was a homemaker and worked in the cafeteria of Crawford Central Schools for 20 years.
She was a 1933 graduate of Randolph-East Mead High School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1952 and was Past President and Treasurer of Calvary Baptist Ladies Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Ladies Missionary Guild and a former volunteer with the March of Dimes. She was especially proud of her family.
Survivors, include: two daughters, Lucy Mae Hess and her husband Hudson of Haiti and Gloria Ruby and her husband Gordon of Loganville, GA; three sons, Kenneth Mears and his wife Janet of Meadville, S. Fred Mears of Meadville and H. David Mears and his wife Peggy of Cochranton; one brother, Byrl Braymer and his wife Marian of Saegertown, seventeen grandchildren and thirty four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Braymer and Mary Burge.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville
The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 543 Randolph Street, Meadville with the Rev. Douglas A. Messerall, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
