Grace I. Barris, 94, formerly of Limber Road, Meadville and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since July 2002, died there, Friday, February 6, 2009.
She was born in St. Petersburg, PA January 23, 1915 a daughter of Benjamin Earl and Catherine E. Russell Klingensmith. She married Charles B. Barris May 10, 1933 and he preceded her in death August 17, 1998.
She was a 1932 graduate of St. Petersburg High School, was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and enjoyed raising her family.
Survivors, include: a daughter, Shirley Reeger and her husband Earl of Meadville; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Barris of Meadville; a granddaughter, Connie Dolan and her husband Gerard of Columbia, NJ; three great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Dunkel of Butler and a niece and a nephew.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward Barris; two brothers, Richard Klingensmith and Paul Klingensmith and a sister-in-law, Mary Klingensmith.
A private family service will be held Tuesday at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville with the Rev. Martin Hardy, Pastor of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, officiating.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1070 Park Avenue, Meadville, PA 16335.
