Green B. Hughes, 93, of Meadville, died suddenly at his home on Tuesday afternoon, June 22, 1971.
He was born at Heflin, AL, on January 28, 1878, a son of Iverson W. Lennie Harris Hughes. He married the former Lola Grubbs on December 24, 1906. She died in 1963.
Mr. Hughes worked on a farm in Alabama in his early life and later in the oil fields of Texas. He came to Meadville in 1944 and worked at various jobs, the last at the Allegheny College Grill. He was a member of Stone United Methodist Church and Woodsmen of the World.
Survivors include three children, Mrs. Roy E. (Grace) Mangan and Mrs. Jewell Thrower, both of Meadville; and John W. Hughes of Pittsburgh; a sister, Mrs. Maude Bell of Mt. Pleasant, TX; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
