Gregg D. Hovis

March 28, 1961 — October 8, 2014

On October 8, 2014, Gregg D. Hovis of Saegertown, PA died peacefully and with dignity at his home.  Born March 28, 1961 to Charles D. and Mary Lou (Wilkinson) Hovis in Meadville, PA.  He graduated from Meadville Area Senior High in 1979 where he was recognized as an outstanding athlete.  Gregg worked for 10 years as a production operator at Lord Corporation in Cambridge Springs, PA and previously worked for Advanced Cast Products for 14 years.  Gregg will be remembered as a loving father of Alex who preceded him in death.  As an avid hunter and passionate outdoorsman, he was happiest in his woods.

Gregg is preceded in death by his son, Alex Gregory Hovis; brother Charles D. Hovis, Jr.; mother Mary Lou (Wilkinson) Hovis; paternal grandparents William E. and Blanche (Bell) Clifford; and maternal grandparents John E. and Lilly (Staley) Wilkinson.  Gregg is survived by his father Charles D. Hovis of Meadville; sister Lisa R. Pitell and her husband Michael of Wexford, PA; sister Lori L. Johnson and her husband Keith of Uniontown, OH; nieces Tess Victoria Johnson, Grace Lilly Johnson and Sarah Elizabeth Pitell; and nephew Matthew Alex Pitell.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  Service is to be held Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Rachel Johns, Pastor of Presbyterian Church of the Redeemer, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
