Greta Shelby

0000 — September 21, 2008

Greta Shelby, 75, of Dicksonburg Road, Linesville, left this world Sunday, September 21, 2008 to join her beloved husband Robert (Bingo) Shelby who preceded her in death in 1973.  She fought a valiant battle with cancer, never giving up hope.  Her strength was a gift to all who knew her.

She leaves behind her son, Robert Shelby and his wife Bettie and granddaughter Abby (Tink) Muth of Saegertown; her daughter, Babe Shelby of Linesville, who loved her more that life itself; her little black Schnauzer, Duncan, who worshipped his “Grammy”; her dear brother, Tom (Tommy Twoshoes, a name she called him in endearment since childhood) Willis of Linesville; her dear friend, Nancy Drake of Townville, who helped care for her in her final days.  She will be dearly missed by her daughter, brother friends and precious pets.

She was a loving soul who gave of her heart and time to all.  She retired from the Crawford County Care Center and loved working in geriatrics.  In her retirement, she worked with her daughter Babe on her landscaping projects.  She found great joy in gardening and spent her summers caring for Duncan and Babe’s numerous gardens.  She had beautiful natural handwriting and people often thought she was a calligrapher.  She and her husband also built an authentic log cabin.

There will be no services at this time.

Her family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or the Oncology Wellness Institute, c/o Meadville Medical Center Foundation, 1015 Grove Street, Meadville, PA 16335.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
