Grosvenor S. McKee, 84, of Meadville, retired vice president of manufacturing of Talon Division of Textron Inc., died after a brief illness Thursday, December 27, 1979, at his winter residence in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
McKee retired from Talon in 1959, and served as a board member of the firm until 1969. He had worked for Talon since 1937.
McKee was active in a number of community organizations and clubs, including Masons, Meadville Country Club and Iroquois Boating and Fishing Club.
He served on boards of directors of numerous corporations and organizations, including Meadville YMCA, Crawford County Boy Scouts, Meadville Area Chamber of Commerce and Stone United Methodist Church.
He served overseas during World War I as first lieutenant of Engineers and later as captain of the 87th Division and 42nd Division (Rainbow), Army of Occupation, Germany.
McKee was born at Athens, OH, April 6, 1895, son of Wilson H. and Constance Grosvenor McKee. He married Ruth Jackson April 8, 1939. He graduated in 1916 from Ohio University with a BS in engineering. He held management positions with a number of firms, and originally came to Meadville in 1938.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Mrs. Bradley (Terry) Connors of Chevy Chase, MD and Mrs. Fred (Margie) Bensing, Jr. of Hoffman Estate, IL; a son, Grosvenor (Bill) McKee of Murraysville; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Evans of Boston and Mrs. Kathryn Jones of Naples, FL and seven grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
