Gwendolyn G. “Gwen” Kingzett, 84, of Conneaut Lake passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 11, 2015 after a brief illness.
Gwen was born in Medina, OH July 6, 1931 a daughter of Earle B. and Winnifred Barnes Gibbs. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William E. Kingzett.
A 1949 graduate of Medina High School, Gwen graduated from Hiram College in 1952. She was an elementary school teacher and reading specialist in the South Euclid-Lyndhurst School District in NE Ohio.
Gwen was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, active in the Presbytery and Women’s Circle. She volunteered with the Crawford County READ Program and enjoyed traveling extensively. Gwen supported her husband during his teaching and coaching years, as well as his years as an official in the Big 10 and later in the NFL. She and her husband enjoyed the past 30 winters in Winter Park, FL returning home for the golf season, where they are owners of Whispering Pines Golf Course.
All things family-related were important to Gwen. She supported her children and grandchildren, traveling to share in their school activities and sports. She loved music, literature, theater and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.
Gwen’s family includes her husband Bill; two daughters, Kim Behm and her husband Michael of Chagrin Falls, OH and Carol Kingzett of Conneaut Lake; a son, William Kingzett and his wife Deborah of Roaming Shores, OH; six grandchildren, Daniel Behm, John Behm, Patrick Behm, William Kingzett, Michael Kingzett and Emma Kingzett; two sisters, Patricia Shanower of Naperville, IL and Sylvia Spearman and her husband William of Loveland, CO; a sister-in-law, Nedra Stofan and her husband Richard of Greenville, SC and many nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 5th at the Presbyterian Church of Conneaut Lake, 145 S. Fifth Street, Conneaut Lake. The memorial service and celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m.
