Harlan W. Drake

Harlan W. Drake, 74, of Meadville, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Meadville Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.  He was born in Athens Township, October 31, 1923, a son of Friend W. and Matie McCartney Drake.  He married W. Marcella Peavy, July 19, 1944, and she survives.

He retired from the spinning department of Avtex after 27 years of service and had previously worked at Talon, Sunbeam, and Westinghouse.  He also did private contracting work.  He was a 1941 graduate of Townville High School.  He was a devoted husband and father.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Pamela) Gamret of Naples, FL; one son Douglas (Tina) Drake of Meadville; five grandchildren, Richie, Dylan, and Caresse Gamret, Naples, FL and Aaron and Nancy Drake of Meadville; one nephew, Harvey Hunt of Sacramento, CA.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Arnellon Hunt and Janet Nelson.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
