Harmer W. Barr, 74, of Meadville, a retired school teacher, died Thursday afternoon at the Smith Institute after a long illness.
Born at Layman, OH, son of the late Emory and Louisa Wible Barr, he taught at public schools in Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania. He served as supervising principle at Fredericktown and later at Hickory in Washington County.
He later became a cabinet maker and was for some time business agent for the Carpenter's District Council in Pittsburgh. In 1933 he was injured in an automobile accident and was forced to retire. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his widow, Estella Barr; two sons, Harmer H. and Edmond W., both of Meadville; a granddaughter, Karen Lee Barr, and a sister, Mrs. Mina Swayne of Cutler, OH.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home with interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
