Harold F. Shorts

Harold F. Shorts, 95, of 463 Randolph St., Meadville, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 9, 1917 in Woodcock Township, Crawford County, a son of Grant and Anna Clay Shorts.  He married Janet Meracle March 26, 1937 and she preceded him in death February 9, 2004.

Harold was a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and was employed at the former FMC.  He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.

A member of Grace United Methodist Church, he was a former member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219 and Meadville Masonic Lodge 234.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty G. Santanello of Greenville, SC and her daughter, Randi Warner and her son, Steven Santanello; three sons, Grant E. Shorts and his wife Patricia of Meadville and their daughter, Tracy Chess; Harold C. Shorts and his wife Nancy of Townville and their children, Walter Shorts, Lynne Benjamin, and Tracy Singletary; and Randy L. Shorts and his wife Dee of Lyman, SC and their son, Mark Shorts; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Arden Shorts.

There are no calling hours.

A private family memorial service will be held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with the Rev. Robert Goodnough, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
