Harold Joseph (Lewie) Lewis, 80, of Conneaut Lake, passed away suddenly Friday, May 21, 2021 in Auburn, NY while traveling to visit family in New Hampshire.
He was born September 12, 1940 in Jersey City, NJ, a son of Harry Joseph and Anne Burke Lewis. He married Brenda Seybert May 9, 1981.
Lewie was a 1958 graduate of St. Agatha High School and a 1967 graduate of Gannon University with a Bachelor’s in economics and a minor in religion. He worked for the railroad and then as a machinist and sales manager for Abex Corporation. He subsequently worked as general sales manager for Falcon Foundry in Lowellville, OH, retiring in 2006.
Lewie was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church and former longtime member and usher at St. Agatha Church.
He was a member of the Iroquois Club and as well as the Conneaut Lake Aquatic Management Association where he served as its first treasurer. Lewie was a standout baseball player in his youth and was signed out of high school to pitch for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a licensed pilot, avid boater, water skier and New York Yankees fan and loved going to Yankees spring training in Tampa, FL. He enjoyed wintering at his second home at Solivita in Kissimmee, FL, was a Disney season pass holder since 1981, and loved going on cruises and taking snow ski trips out west.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Brenda, include a nephew, Robert Lewis of New Hampshire; two nieces, Anita Glynn (Chip) of Connecticut and Elizabeth Adams (William) of Chicago, IL; a cousin, Leonard Wiles (Mary) of Dearborn, MI; and his beloved dog, Huggie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Lewis and an infant.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 26th from 4 to 7 p.m. at WAID-COLEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 12422 CONNEAUT LAKE RD., CONNEAUT LAKE with a Scripture Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The wearing of masks is required.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S. Ninth St., Conneaut Lake with Fr. David Carter as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Our Lady Queen of the Americas Cemetery.
