Harriet B. Hout

September 18, 1897 — May 25, 1982

Mrs. Harriet B. Hout, 84, a resident of Alexandria, VA, for the past three years and formerly of Meadville, widow of Marion Errett Hout, died at Mt. Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, Tuesday, May 25, 1982, after a sudden illness.

She was born in Vernon Township, September 18, 1897, a daughter of Frederick and Jennie Sloan Houser.  Her husband died in 1945.

Mrs. Hout was a school teacher in her early life and later was self-employed as a corsetier.

She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, the church's Beacon of Light Sunday School Class; United Methodist Women, a former member of the church choir; a member of the Meadville Fine Arts Council and Colonel Crawford Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

In Alexandria, she was an associate member of the St. Aiden's Episcopal Church; a member of Georgia's Neighbors Senior Citizens and Saunders Moon Community Center.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Roy (Janet) Hamlin of Alexandria; a sister, Mrs. Wesley (Adelaide) Reitze of Meadville; a brother, John Houser of Lakeland, FL and four step-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
