Harriette M. Williams

Harriette M. Williams, 87, of State College, formerly of Meadville, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Centre Community Hospital, State College.

She was born May 25, 1914 in Meadville, a daughter of the late Edgar H. and Frances Spitler Leberman.  On June 19, 1937, she married John J. Williams, who survives at Brookline Village, State College, PA.

She was a 1935 graduate of the Edinboro State Teachers College.  She taught school in Meadville for several years.

She was a member of Saint Paul's United Church of Christ in Meadville where she was a member of the Church Guild.  She attended Mt. Nittany United Methodist Church in State College.

In Meadville, she was a member of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary; the Col. Crawford Chapter D.A. R; the Meadville Women’s Club and its Garden and Literary Divisions; and was a member and past secretary for the Board of the YWCA.   She was a volunteer for Brookline Village in State College.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Lynne E. Franklin of Palm Harbor, FL; a son, Jack D. Williams of State College; two brothers, Edgar Leberman of Brea, CA and Donald G. Leberman of Meadville; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 10 to 12 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, at the Windsong Dining Room at Brookline Village, 1930 Cliffside Drive, State College with the Reverend Carl E. Hill officiating.  Local calling hour will be Monday from 1- 2 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.  Committal Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steven Aschman, pastor of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
