Harrison R. Buttermore

October 16, 1907 — October 23, 1989

Harrison R. Buttermore, 82, formerly of Meadville, died Monday, October 23, 1989, at Hill Haven Nursing Home, Webster, NY, where he had been a resident for five years, after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Buttermore was born in Belle Vernon on October 16, 1907, a son of Charles and Lulu Johnson Buttermore.  He married Edith Brown on July 11, 1933, she survives.

He retired in 1970 as a junior high school teacher in Union City.  He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.  He was a graduate of California State Teacher's College and did post-graduate work at Edinboro State Teacher's College.  He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Masonic Lodge 408, the Soloman Royal Arch Chapter 191, the Northwestern Commandary 25.  He was a member of Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie, Crawford County Shrine Club and Charles Stafford Post 111, American Legion.  Mr. Buttermore was also a member of the Pennsylvania and National Retired Teacher's Assoc., the Royal Clans of Scotland, Douglas Clan of Pittsburgh and AARP.

Survivors include, in addition to his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Carol) Hobson of Alliance, OH; two sons, Phillip Buttermore of Chambersburg and Robert Buttermore of Webster, NY; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Service were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
