Harry J. Grabenstetter

Harry J. Grabenstetter, 84, of Meadville, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.

He was born January 28, 1928 in Elyria, OH a son of Harry G. and Ruby M. Boughton Grabenstetter.  He first married Helen Baker and subsequently married Doris E. Miller Crowe Webster November 12, 1993 and she survives.

He worked as a police officer retiring in 1980 from the Fremont, OH Police Department after 27 years of service.  He previously had worked as a meat cutter in Fremont and for a brief period as a cook on a great lakes freighter.

He was a 1945 graduate of Fremont Ross High School in Fremont, OH and was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy.  He was a member of First Christian Church, Meadville, Loyal Order of Moose #1286, Fremont, OH, Elks Lodge #169, Fremont, OH, F.O.P. Col. George Croghan Lodge #35, Fremont, OH, life member of VFW Post #2947, Fremont, OH, member of American Legion Post #733, Bettsville, OH and he volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Meadville.  He loved fishing, especially with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Doris of 19 years, include: four daughters, Theresa Poe and her husband Stan of Bettsville, OH, Sherry Genzman and her husband Roger of Sun City West, AZ, Kimberly Sue Dotson of Fremont, OH and Jamie Clements and her husband Edison of Lake Havasu City, AZ; two sons, Robert Lee Grabenstetter of Fremont, OH and Timothy Lou Grabenstetter and his wife Theresa of Fremont, OH; a step daughter, Darleen Clark of Mauldin, SC; a step-son, Edward R. Crowe and his wife Debbie of Meadville; two granddaughters, Tysha Mosser and her husband Jeff and Tara Shanahan and her husband Mike; four step grandchildren, Joey Crowe, Michelle Crowe, Ryan MacLeod and his wife Evelyn and Becki Hayes and her husband Rusty, four great grandchildren, Timothy Mosser, Scout Mosser, Reese Shanahan and Owen Shanahan, two step great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Shriver, a sister, Darlene Getts and a half-sister, Janet Havens.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-6 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Terry Clark, Pastor of First Christian Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine Street or First Christian Church, 503 N. Main Street, both of Meadville, PA 16335.
