Harry J. Parsons

Harry J. Parsons, 53, of Meadville, died suddenly, Sunday, September 17, 2000 at York Hospital, York, PA following a brain aneurysm while visiting Gettysburg Battlefield.

He was born January 25, 1947 in Greenville, a son of George R. and Roselma N. Fenn Parsons.  He had been married to Leanna Smallenberger and she survives.

He was a graduate of Saegertown High School and a Veteran of the US Navy having served during the Vietnam Conflict from 1964 to 1966.  He worked for over 30 years for the former Abex Company and later for its successor US Bronze Foundry and Machine and Lubrite Technologies, both of Meadville where he was a quality control manager.  He was a member and trustee of Meadville Elks Lodge 219 and a member of West Mead #2 VFD.  He was an avid Civil War history enthusiast, a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, and an organ donor through the Gift of Life organization.

Survivors include his mother of Andover, OH; a daughter, Traci M. Parsons of Newberry, OH; a son, Kevin M. Parsons of Meadville; a brother, George P. Parsons of Meadville; and a half-Aunt.  He was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Robert Parsons and a sister, Dorothy Neuroth.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
