Harry James Shellito, 83, of Conneaut Lake died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Meadville Medical Center.

He was born October 1, 1932 in Geneva, PA a son of Harry and Mildred Brooks Shellito.  He was raised in Harmonsburg, but moved to Hayfield Twp. in 1951.  He then graduated from Saegertown High School in 1952.  He married Norma Jean McGuire on June 26, 1953 and she survives.

He was a veteran of the Korean War stationed in Okinawa, Japan serving the U.S. Army from 1953-1954.  He worked for Talon Inc. in Meadville for over 40 years, retiring in 1994.

Harry enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, fishing and being in the outdoors.  He taught hunter safety classes to local youth and was recognized in 2009 by the State of Pennsylvania for his 50 years of serving as a hunter safety educator.  He was proud to have participated in many of the state and national trap shooting events through the years, including the Pennsylvania State Trap Shoot and the Grand American.  He shared his love of hunting and trap shooting with everyone he met and his family often had dinners where he supplied the main course of venison or other wild game.  His family was his greatest joy and he loved telling others how proud he was of his children and grandchildren.

He was a life member of the Conneaut Lake and Meadville Sportsman’s Clubs and a member of the Saegertown Sportsman’s Club.  He was a member of the Conneaut Lake Historical Society, the American Legion, the Harmonsburg United Methodist Church and the first Boy Scout Troop that was organized in Harmonsburg.  He was a former member of the Hayfield Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. and Littles Corners United Methodist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Norma of 63 years, include: three children, Teresa Olah and her husband Donald of Conneaut Lake, Joseph Shellito and his wife Sharon of Warren, OH and Julie Weagraff and her husband Marc of North Royalton, OH; two grandchildren, Abraham Shellito and Nathan Weagraff and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Lawton and Rev. Lea Guiney, officiating.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
