Harry R. Hoge, 78, a resident of the Crawford County Care Center since August 1994, formerly of Meadville, died Thursday, August 29, 1996 at the Care Center following a period of declining health.
He was born in Pittsburgh, August 2, 1918, a son of the late Norval and Estelle Roberts Hoge. He married Esther V. Maser on July 2, 1948. She survives.
He was a 1941 graduate of the former Carnegie Institute of Technology with a BS in Metallurgical Engineering. Following graduation, he worked for two years at Carnegie Institute of Technology and Mellon Institute for six years. He retired from Westinghouse Corporation's Bettis Atomic Power Lab in 1979 as a senior engineer. He worked for Westinghouse for 30 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, its church choir and was a former trustee. He was a member of the Vernon Grange. He was also a member and officer of Yesterday's Sound Barbershop Chorus.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a sister, Florence Auth of Pittsburgh.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Genelle Hoge.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
