Harry S. Alexander

Harry S. Alexander, 80, RD 1, Pettis Road, Meadville, died at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 1967, at City Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Alexander was born in Washington County on April 28, 1887, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Alexander, Sr.  He married the former Ruth Barnum on April 21, 1920.  She died in July 1961.

He was research director at Keystone View Co. for 10 years prior to his retirement in 1952.  Before that, Mr. Alexander was research engineer for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co,, Akron, OH.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and graduated Washington & Jefferson College with a BS degree in 1907 and a MS degree in 1909, and a MS degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He was captain and commander of the 92nd Air Squadron during World War I, and a member of the Meadville Rotary Club and Meadville Round Table.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Ruth Ann) Hanson, Glenshaw; three sisters, Miss E. Margaret Alexander, Washington, Mrs. Robert D. (Rachel) Christie, Pittsburgh, and Mrs. Arthur F. (Florence) Pond, San Marino, CA; a brother, Dr. Thomas R. Alexander, Jr., Pittsburgh; and two grandsons, Dean and William of Glenshaw.

Serves were held at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was at Washington Cemetery, Washington.
