Harry W. Lafferty, 91, of Meadville, died at home Sunday, February 11, 1996, after a period of declining health.
He was born August 29, 1904, at Clarksburg, Indiana County, PA, a son of the late Martin and Emma Clark Lafferty. He first married the former Doris Adams in 1942, and she preceded him in death in 1945. He subsequently married Edna M. Umbright January 5, 1946. She survives.
He was a graduate of the Indiana County public schools and attended the Coyne Electrical School of Chicago. He retired from the former American Viscose Co., as an electrician, after 35 years service. He was a World War II veteran with the US Army 841st Engineering Aviation Battalion. He had been a Boy Scout Leader with Troop #227 of Stone United Methodist Church; a 50 year member and past master of Masonic Lodge #408; a member of West Mead #1 Fire Department; a member of Stone United Methodist Church and its Men's Bible Class.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Wayne M. Lafferty of Morehead, KY; a sister, Dorothy Lindquist of Derry, PA and two grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, DeRoy and Lisle Lafferty.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
