Hattie Britton Smith

Mrs. Hattie Britton Smith, 82, of Meadville, formerly of East Mead Township, died Sunday, January 7, 1968, at City Hospital after an illness of one day.  She had been in failing health for some time.

She was born at Guys Mills March 10, 1885, a daughter of Edgar and Eletha Oakes Britton.  Her husband, Oscar D. Smith whom she married December 27, 1905, died in July 1958.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith had been members of Pine Grove Methodist Chruch since their early married life.  She was an honorary member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the church.

She is survived by three daughters, Miss Marion E. Smith, with whom she had made her home, Miss Marjorie E. Smith of East Cleveland and Mrs. R. P. (Mildred E. ) Bowen of Lyndhurst, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Lela Graham of Meadville and Miss Martha Britton of Tavares, FL and two grandchildren, Martha Ann and Peter David Bowen.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
