Hazel A. Nogee

Hazel A. Nogee, 93, of Meadville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, January 28, 2022 at the Marquette Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 12, 1928 in East Fairfield Township, Crawford County, a daughter of Harry and Freda Gibbons Best.  She had been married to Harry Martin and subsequently married Frank Nogee July 7, 1984.  He preceded her in death August 9, 2005.

Hazel worked at the American Viscose, Meadville City Hospital, and subsequently was owner and operator of Hazel’s Ceramic Shop for 30 years.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Church and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and gardening.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Martin (Patricia) of Salem, OH; a daughter, Bonnie McDaniel (Joseph) of Meadville; a stepson, James Nogee (Susan) of Mindoro, WI; a stepdaughter, Debra Yeager (Larry) of Hadley; five grandchildren, Jason McDaniel (Karyl), Jennifer Mast (David), Donald Martin (Anna), Mark Martin (Stefanie), and James Martin (Tiffany); three step-grandchildren, Michelle Yeager, Matthew Nogee (Amanda), and Sarah Barron (Jesse); seven great-grandchildren, Joseph and Molly McDaniel, Ashley and Hope Mast, and Zachary, Macy, and Lily Martin; a step-great-grandson, Ivan Nogee; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Richard Best; three sisters, Irene Messerall, Geraldine Boor, and Lois Wellmon; a step-granddaughter, Melissa Yeager; and an infant great-granddaughter, Grace Mast.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 1st from 3-6 p.m. and Wednesday, February 2nd from 10-11 a.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Russell Hines, Pastor of St. Mark’s Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
