Hazel M. Bennett

Hazel M. Bennett, 73, of 739 Graff Ave., Meadville, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at Hamot Medical Center, Erie following a sudden illness.

She was born May 15, 1928 in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late Clarence C. and Fannie Clark Kersey.  She married Donald S. Bennett November 15, 1946 and he preceded her in death November 16, 1997.

She retired from Quality Markets as a deli cook following 17 years of service.  She previously worked as a cafeteria worker for Crawford Central School District for several years.  She was a member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219 auxiliary and had been an avid golfer and bowler.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include 2 sons, Timothy S. Bennett and his wife Kathy of Monroe, MI and Robert B. Bennett and his wife June of Erie; 3 grandchildren, Jason and Wesley Bennett and Danielle Diaz; 4 great-grandchildren; and 3 brothers, James W., Garred L., and Clarence L. Kersey, all of Los Angeles, CA.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul E. Kersey.

A memorial service will be Friday, April 12th at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 353 Chestnut St., Meadville with Rev. Gregory Streed officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Crawford Unit, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335 or the American Heart Assoc., c/o Twila O’Dell, 933 Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335.
