Hazel M. Bogardus

March 24, 1898 — September 12, 1983

Mrs. Hazel M. Bogardus, 85, a resident of North Park Manor for the past three years, wife of Myron O. Bogardus, died at the manor Monday, September 12, 1983, after a long illness.

She was born in Wayne Township, March 24, 1898, a daughter of Frank and Orpha Thurston Walters.  She married Bogardus April 5, 1916.  She was in the grocery business with her husband at Black Ash, Kerrtown A&P and finally on North Main Street Extension.  She also was employed for a time at Talon, Inc.  She was a member of Meadville Christian Missionary Alliance Church and the church's adult Bible class.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Berneta) Walls and Mrs. Thomas (Marian) McDowell, both of Meadville; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Mabel) Byham of Meadville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
