Hazel M. Young

Hazel M. Young, 85, of 10209 Blue Ridge Court, Louisville, KY died Sunday, February 3, 2002 at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville, KY.

She was born August 31, 1916 in Kerrmoor, PA a daughter of A. Leslie and Elma Thurston Young.

She retired from GE’s Appliance Division in Louisville, KY as a spot welder after 24 years of service.  She was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church of Louisville and she was a born again Christian.  She felt her life was a service to the Lord and she enjoyed making afghans for her great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Survivors, include a daughter, Barbara Clements and her husband Frank of Louisville; four grandchildren, Debbie Miller, Jim Clements, Frank Clements and Sandy Lyda; three sisters, Helen Puntell of Venice, FL, Sarah Johnston of Meadville and Ruth Foulk of Guys Mills; eight great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her former husband, Roy Spencer; a granddaughter, Suzzanna Clements and a sister, Gladys Woods.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Walton of Lyona Bible Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Grace Evangelical Free Church, 13060 Factory Lane, Louisville, KY 40245.
