Hazel Naething Babcock Hamill, 102, a resident of Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, since May 1979, formerly of Holland Towers, died Sunday, July 10, 1988, at the nursing home after a period of failing health.
Mrs. Hamill was born in New York City, May 24, 1886, a daughter of Herman E. and Elizabeth Keely Naething. She married Harry J. Babcock. He preceded her in death in 1927. She subsequently married Charles Hamell in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1939.
She and her first husband operated a fruit ranch in Palisade, CO, for six years. She also was a dressmaker and matron at Indiana Girl's School and a housemother at Delta Upsilon fraternity at DePauw University, Greencastle, IN. She attended Moravian Seminary and College for Women, Bethlehem. She was a 1906 graduate of Greater New York Cooking School and also attended Barnard College in New York. She was associated with Stone United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Norman N. Babcock of Meadville and Newton S. Babcock of Port Charlotte, FL; two stepdaughters, Mrs. F. W. (Julia Ann) Ranney of Indianapolis, IN and Mrs. Robert (Jean) Crocker of Evanston, IL; four grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and fourteen step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, The Rev. Dr. Robert Hamill.
Services were held with the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
