Mrs. Helen C. Foltz, 78, of Meadville, died unexpectedly at home, Tuesday, June 10, 1980, after a period of failing health.
She was born in Jackson Center, Mercer County, August 17, 1901, daughter of William and Gertrude Prindle Whitlash.
She graduated from the former Warren State Hospital School of Nursing in 1926. She was employed at Cleveland Clinic for several years, then was commissioned a lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps in 1944, serving with the Army of Occupation in Japan. She took her discharge in Japan in 1948 and continued working in Japan in a military hospital until 1952. She then worked at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Washington, DC, until retiring to Meadville in 1966.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Rachel Seaton of Franklin, IN; and two brothers, Judge Walter G. Whitlatch and Charles B. Whitlatch, both of Cleveland.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Osborne and a brother, Norman Whitlatch.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake.
