Helen E. Abell Magruder, 85, of St. Paul Homes of Greenville, formerly of Meadville, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at St. Paul Homes after a period of declining health.
She was born in Greenville, August 25, 1913, a daughter of David and Cecelia Kepple McMahn. She married Arthur V. Abell November 13, 1937. He preceded her in death February 17, 1963. She then married L. Fred Magruder June 4, 1964. He survives.
She graduated from Greenville High School and Spencer Hospital School of Nursing in Meadville. She had been employed as a registered nurse at Spencer Hospital and then by Crawford Central School District, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Golden Crown Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Meadville.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Greenville, and was a former member of Stone United Methodist Church, Meadville.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Charlotte) Kightlinger of Meadville; two sons, David Abell (Christine) of of Denver, CO and Daniel Abell (Kay) of Artesia, NM; three step sons, Walter Magruder of Trophy Club, TX, Fred Magruder of Lexington, KY and Daniel Magruder of Meadville; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Stull of Greenville and several cousins.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
