Helen F. Fordyce

Helen E. Fordyce, 91, of Meadville, died at Wesbury United Methodist Community, where she was a patient for the past year, on Wednesday, June 6, 1990.

She was born in Vienna, OH, on May 11, 1899, a daughter of David S. and Margaret Anderson Fordyce.

She taught in Corry Elementary Schools until 1944, and later at East End Elementary School in Meadville until retiring in 1964.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Joy Circle of the Presbyterian Women.  She was a graduate of Meadville High School, and obtained her teaching certificate from the former Edinboro State Normal School, receiving her BA from Penn State University in 1934.

She was a member of the Golden Crown Chapter 44, Order of the Eastern Star; a member of PA Assn. of Retired Teachers; and had been a volunteer with the Red Cross, both in Corry and in Meadville.

She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Fordyce of Meadville and Mrs. Carl (Ida) Bean of Butler; one niece and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Leon (Jessie) Bausman and Betty Fordyce and one brother, Alec Fordyce.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
