Helen First, 94, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Wesbury’s Grace Health Center and graduated to glory!
She was born August 22, 1924 in Meadville, a daughter of Michael and Wilamina Matteson Offi.
Helen attended Meadville area schools and worked at Talon, Plant 7 in her early 20s. She married Vincent E. First in 1945, moved to Tonawanda, NY and became a homemaker.
After moving back to Meadville in 1968, Helen worked for several clients including Yolanda Barco, getting to know George and Emmaline in the process.
Helen enjoyed quilting, crocheting, sewing, and doing ceramics. She loved Jesus, her family, music and her Bible.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth First and his wife Bonnie of Midland, MI; her daughter, Marie Miller and her husband David of Meadville; seven grandchildren, Erin Spindler (Jeremy), Ashley Dicken (Shaun), Courtney Hanson (Matthew), and Whitney First, all of Michigan; Bryan Miller and Christopher Miller, both of Meadville; and Jenna Wagner (Matthew) of Tionesta; four great-grandchildren, Mckenna, Mason, Maverick and Anna; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Thomas Offi, Ann Camasi, James Offi, Pauline (Freund) Dinger, Adalaide Farkus, George Offi, and Donald Offi.
The family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the many helping hands at Wesbury for their wonderful care.
A private family viewing and funeral service will be at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE with the Rev. Douglas Messerall officiating.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
