Helene M. Lingo

Helene Marie Lingo, 73, of Meadville, died Friday, May 29, 2015 at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.

She was born June 10, 1941 in Hornell, NY, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Jennie B. Caruso Marendo.  She married Charles Jack Lingo January 28, 1967 and he survives.

Helene was a 1959 graduate of Meadville High School and a graduate of Michael’s Beauty School of Erie.  She was owner and operator of Helene Marie’s Beauty Shop on Water Street and subsequently worked in food service for Crawford Central School District.

Helene was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, and its Altar Rosary Society for many years and was a former member of the St. Agatha Church choir.  She enjoyed making cannolis with the church women, playing cards and socializing with her many friends, and especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and face timing with them.

Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Jack of 48 years, include three children, Michael Charles Lingo and his wife Rebecca Feldkamp of Celebration, FL, Michelle Marie Ortiz and her husband Carlos of Mequon, WI, and Charles James (Jimmy) Lingo and his fiancée Molly Sorice of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Meejung, Minna, and Noah Lingo and Elijah, Xavier, and Gabriel Ortiz; a brother, Domenick R. Marendo of Meadville; a sister, Jeanette Guthrie and her husband Kenneth of Meadville; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts.

Calling hours will be Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with a Scripture Prayer service at 3:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Grace Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville with Fr. Matthew Kujawinski as Celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
