Henry H. (Sonny) Coblentz, 77, of Townville, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center, FL following a brief illness.
He was born November 18, 1934 in Canton, OH, a son of Henry A. Barbara Shrock Coblentz. He married Mary Hershberger May 26, 1955 and she preceded him in death June 9, 2011.
Henry attended Greentown Schools, Greentown, OH and worked as a self-employed carpenter and home builder, retiring in 1999. A member of Valley View Mennonite Church, Spartansburg, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, playing cards, wintering in Florida following retirement and especially spending time with his family and friends. He was affiliated with Townville Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include six children, Wayne H. Coblentz and his wife Cheryl of Catawba, SC, Donald R. Coblentz and his wife Mary of Centerville, Marvin E. Coblentz and his wife Twyla of Ault, CO, Kenneth L. Coblentz and his wife Paula of Corry, Karen S. Sullivan and her husband Richard of Townville, and Twila J. Thoman and her husband Pat of Uniontown, OH; his mother, Barbara Coblentz of Bell Center, OH; thirteen grandchildren, Kevin, Michael, Jeremy, Joshua, Ryan, Jesse, and Wanda Coblentz, Justin and Christopher Sullivan, Jennifer Halsey, Heather Duke, and Samuel and Brooke Thoman; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bert Coblentz and his wife Ada of Homeworth, OH, Leroy Coblentz of Senecaville, OH, and Elmer Coblentz and his wife Rose of Maxville, MT; four sisters, Edna Hershberger and her husband Jonas of Bell Center, OH, Emma Yoder and her husband Harvey of Sarasota, FL, Ada Coblentz and her husband Henry A. of Etowah, NC, and Barbara Lumley and her husband Ernest of Bracey, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Coblentz.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Valley View Mennonite Church, 24313 State Hwy 89, Spartansburg. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Rob Esh, Church Pastor officiating.
Interment will be in Valley View Mennonite Cemetery.
