Henry M. 'Hank' Furtwangler

Henry M. “Hank” Furtwangler, 57, of 17903 Mullen Road, Meadville died suddenly Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in Memphis, TN.

He was born March 4, 1950 in Pittsburgh a son of Fridolin and Blanche White Furtwangler.  He married Janice McIntyre January 7, 1972 and she survives.

He was a graduate of St. Francis Prep in Spring Grove, PA and Beaver County Community College.

He moved to Meadville in 1972 and worked as a pilot with Dad’s Products for 8 years.  He then joined American Airlines where he worked for 20 years retiring as Captain in 2001.  He returned to Dad’s Products flying with them for the past 6 years before joining Fed Ex in Memphis, TN this past April.

He enjoyed flying, biking and golf.  He loved his wife and sons and was very proud of them.  He has left us much too soon and he’ll be deeply missed.  Wait for me at the “Bridge.”

He is survived by his beloved wife Janice of 35 years, his sons, Ryan Furtwangler and his fiancée Jennifer Stanford of Stuart, FL and Mike Chornack of Meadville; his mother, Blanche Furtwangler of Pittsburgh; his cousins, Judith Gunther, David and Jules Heidish, Paul and Sonya Heidish and family and Matthew Heidish all of Pittsburgh.  He will also be missed by his close friends, John Sutton, Jim Murcko, Bob Oliver and all of the Lang family.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Monday at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor of St. Mary of Grace Church, officiating.
