Herbert D. Chatley, 70, of Meadville, died Sunday March 25, 2001 at home following a four year illness.
He was born September 11, 1930 in Geneva, a son of the late Wallace J. and Bernice A. Vogan Chatley. He married Dorothy Gearhart November 13, 1952 and she survives.
He was a 1949 graduate of Meadville High School and a graduate of Robert Morris School of Business. He was a US Navy Veteran during the Korean Conflict, serving from 1952 to 1956. He worked as an accountant for GTI Corp. for 23 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a member of Park Congregational Church, NACCC and the Methodist Men's Club of Baltimore, MD.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 48 years, include two sons, Edward R. Chatley of Harrisburg and Donald P. Chatley (Debbie) of McConnellsburg; two daughters, Linda J. Chatley of Kennett Square and Nancy L. Richards (Harry) of Narvon; four grandchildren, Victoria Chatley, Michael Richards, Andrew Richards, and Jamie Richards; and a sister, Marian D. Phillips of Meadville.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in New Lebanon Cemetery.
