Herbert J. Griggs

Herbert J. Griggs, 87, former master of Crawford County Pomona Grange, died early Thursday at the Smith Institute.

A son of the late Judson and Katherine Henry Griggs, he spent much of his life in Blooming Valley, moving to Meadville 20 years ago.  Until about three years ago, he resided with a niece, Mrs. Theodore A. Truran of Meadville.

Active in Grange circles, he was master of Pomona Grange from 1900 to 1904 and was formerly a member of Randolph Grange, Guys Mills.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Gertrude W. Quinn of Meadville and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
