Herbert M. Rudler, 73, of Meadville, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at UPMC Hamot, Erie following a period of declining health.
He was born May 10, 1941 in Meadville, a son of Howard and Martha Leffingwell Rudler. He married Diane Shumaker September 4, 1965 and she survives.
Herb was a 1959 graduate of Meadville High School and the Crawford County Vocational Technical School tool and die program. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1962 to 1964. He worked as a tool and die maker throughout his career at numerous area tool and die companies.
A proud man, Herb was an avid woodworker including making various musical instruments and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He previously enjoyed playing the hammered dulcimer.
Herb was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Diane, include two brothers, Ron Rudler and his wife Paula of Cambridge Springs and Don Rudler and is wife Virginia of Meadville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Temple Jarrell, Pastor of New Beginnings Church of God, officiating. Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
