Homer J. Henry

Homer J. Henry, 85, of Meadville and a patient at Wesbury United Methodist Community since September 1998, died there Tuesday, June 13, 2000.

He was born in Union Township, Crawford County, May 23, 1915, a son of Ellis E. and Agnes Shilling Henry.  He married Gertrude Hibbard November 21, 1936 and she survives.

Mr. Henry retired in 1977 as supervisor of the Engineering Division at Avtex Fibers after 44 years of service.  He was a 1933 graduate of Meadville High School and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.  He especially enjoyed his family, sporting activities, camping and working around his home.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 63 years, includes two daughters, Marilyn Henry of Meadville and Karen Shaffer (David) of Meadville; one son, James E. Henry (Margaret) of Erie; eight grandchildren, Dan Toboz, Jr., David Toboz, Carol Cavalier, Mary Eckart, Diane Minnis, Kevin J. Henry, Ben Shaffer and Brock Shaffer; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Henry and a sister, Oral Peterson.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Cochranton Cemetery.
